Indeed, much of what we know about public finance has been tested against large microdata sets–in the United States, primarily merged information files based on household-level data from the IRS Individual Public-Use Tax Files, the Current Population Survey, the Consumer Expenditure Survey, and the triennial Survey of Consumer Finances. ![]() ![]() ![]() Widely shared and easy to use databases facilitate quantitative research and render the replication of findings practical and convenient.
